Unorthodox Perspective - Solo Exhibition at The Malt House, Lyme Regis - June 2023
The Odd Piece

Book | Blog | Podcast

My first book, 'The Odd Piece' has just been published. It is now available to purchase as a paperback from The Great British Bookshop and as an Ebook from Google Play at
Woven together with poetry and prose, 'The Odd Piece' is an autobiographical narrative which explores my complex and often challenging relationship with autism. To accompany the book, I have started a blog which looks at  the concepts in the book in more detail. This is also available as a podcast (narrated by myself.) The blog, podcast and more information about the book can be found on a separate site dedicated to The Odd Piece.
Exhibition with Dorset Independent Photographers
From 22nd October - 6th November I  exhibited at the Sou'-Sou'-West Gallery in Symondsbury with fellow members of Dorset Independent Photographers.
For this exhibition I chose images which I took using my 35mm Minox film camera.

Dorset Art Weeks - 14th - 29th May 2022
Phew, what a marathon!
Dorset Art Weeks 2022 has now finished and, although there were fewer visitors this year, it was great to be able to show my work again. Here are a few of the comments written in the visitors’ book.
"Alison your work is fantastic!!"
"Superb photography, wonderful insight into what is around us."
"Excellent show, as expected!"
Time now to prepare for the Dorset Independent Photographers Exhibition in the Borough Gardens, Dorchester from 13th – 21st August. Dorset Independent Photographers is a small group of photographers with varied and eclectic photographic styles so, if you have the opportunity to visit the exhibition, rest assured you won’t be disappointed.
Royal Photographic Society Talk
On Thursday April 28th 2022 I gave a talk to the Royal Photographic Society entitled, "The Cloak of Conformity and the Corset of Expectation."
"As someone who is on the autism spectrum, Alison Webber has expended a great deal of time and energy creating different versions of herself in an attempt to fit into society’s expectations of how she should behave. She refers to this disguise as the Cloak of Conformity and the Corset of Expectation. She says: "The corset shaped me into an idealised form whilst the cloak displayed a version of me to the world which said, 'Look I fit in.' "
"The Cloak of Conformity and the Corset of Expectation tells the story of their relationship with photography and autism and the ways in which their photographic journey has helped them realise that the cloak and the corset have been suffocating their creativity and that by discarding them they can express their true identity."
The talk is free to attend and is open to anyone. You will, however, need to book a place via the RPS website in order to receive your Zoom link.
